Delhi To Host Bharat Rang Mahotsav’s Opening Ceremony On January 28
Also known as Bharangam, the grand festival will commence on January 28. Slated to continue till February 16, 2025, 13 cities in India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka will host the world’s largest theatre festival. Over 200 productions from nine countries will be showcased in this event. International theatre groups from the Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Norway, Russia, Spain, Sri Lanka, and Taiwan will participate in the 20-day-long Bharat Rang Mahotsav.
In a first, the National School of Drama will organise the theatre festival abroad. Its satellite chapters will be hosted in Nepal and Sri Lanka. Focusing on India, the domestic satellite locations are Agartala, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhatinda, Bhopal, Goa, Gorakhpur, Jaipur, Khairagarh, and Ranchi with Delhi being its epicentre.
Delhi’s Kamani Auditorium will host the opening ceremony of Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2025. On January 28, the inaugural event will be conducted at 3 PM. During the celebrations, the NSD Repertory Company will perform Rang Sangeet, a dreamy musical evening. The artists from the prestigious institution will perform original songs composed by the NSD Repertory’s music directors.
More About The Theatre Festival
With an aim to provide a platform for Indian theatre artists, Bharat Rang Mahotsav 2025 will feature ‘Advitiya 2025, a parallel student-led fiesta. It opens doors for NSDians to interact with students from different universities and artists involved with performing arts. Held by First, Second, and Third Year students, this beautiful event also presents Folk Bands, Open Stage, and Street Theatre, among others.
In 2025, one of the Bharat Rang Mahotsav organisers’ primary goals is to expand Bharat Rang Mahotsav’s outreach with wonderful international engagement. Also, it continues to build upon ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Vande Bharangam’, the festival theme in 2024.
