From December 20 to 25, the 18th edition of Bhimthadi Jatra 2024 will take place at the College of Agriculture Ground in Sinchan Nagar, Pune. This year’s festival promises an immersive experience that beautifully blends tradition with innovation. It will showcase Maharashtra’s diverse cultural roots while celebrating the spirit of rural life.
Bhimthadi Jatra 2024 Returns With A Vibrant Celebration
The festival will kick off with a heartfelt tribute to Padmashree (Late) Shri Appasaheb Pawar on the 25th anniversary of his passing. A dedicated memorial will honour Appasaheb Pawar. He is renowned for having revolutionised Indian agriculture, particularly with his groundbreaking work on drip irrigation. Located next to the Bhimthadi Selects area, the exhibit will walk visitors through his enormous contributions and show how Indian agriculture has changed over time.
This year, Bhimthadi Jatra emphasises the importance of health and sustainability with GI-packed farm produce, including honey, along with other farm-fresh delights. For those with a penchant for premium, eco-friendly products, Bhimthadi Select Section features sustainable textiles, natural dyes, and traditional weaving techniques.
In a special first, Telangana takes the spotlight at this year’s festival, showcasing its exquisite handlooms and authentic regional cuisine. Bara Balutedar Section will also celebrate Maharashtra’s traditional occupational communities. Watch Chambhars, Kumbhars, and Mangs in action with live demonstrations of their craftsmanship.
