The Jaynagar-Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express was pelted with stones on Thursday night. The incident took place in Bihar’s Samastipur district on the Muzaffarpur-Samastipur line. Several train windows were shattered and some passengers were also injured during the whole ordeal. Read on to know more about this incident.
Swatantrata Senani Express In Bihar Attacked By Stones
Some unknown people threw stones at the Jaynagar-Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express. The sudden attack caused the passengers on the train to panic and some even ended up with injuries. According to an NDTV report, the windows of the pantry car and coaches next to it were shattered due to the stone pelting. Some stones were even thrown at sleeper coaches of the train.
The incident took place at Samastipur Railway Station’s outer signal. The train halted at the station around 8:45 PM on Thursday. As per reports, as soon as the train reached the outer signal, the stone-pelting started. This caused the train to delay for about 45 minutes.
A police case has been filed against these “unknown people” by Samastipur Railway Police. They’re trying to track down the attackers and also investigate the cause of this entire incident.
Panicked & Injured Passengers Taken To Hospital
Several passengers have been reportedly injured due to the stone pelting on the Swatantrata Senani Express in Bihar. They were taken to the nearby hospital for immediate medical assistance. Thankfully, no major injuries were reported. Also, only minor damages, besides the window breakage, were seen on the train. Although not confirmed, there were also reports of stone pelting at the Dibrugarh-New Delhi Rajdhani that was travelling on the same track. As per NDTV’s report, the train was ahead of the Swatantrata Senani Express.
Recently, the Jaynagar-Delhi Swatantrata Senani Express was able to narrowly avert a major accident. The train hit a wooden block placed on the track in Ghazipur and ended up damaging a major part of the engine. A new engine had to be added to the train and it was delayed for nearly three hours!
