Bobby Deol debut

From making a remarkable comeback with ‘Race 3’ to making the audience drool over his chiselled body in ‘Animal’, Bobby Deol still has the skills to charm movie-goers! Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, met with the actor at his Juhu home for one of our episodes of Sunday Brunch. While conversing, we wanted to learn more about his debut Bollywood film and how he sustained a leg fracture. Read on.

Bobby Deol Fractured His Leg During An Action Scene For His Debut

Bobby Deol’s debut film was 1995’s ‘Barsaat’ alongside actor Twinkle Khanna. It was a massive hit in the theatres and bagged him several awards. While discussing his first film, Bobby shared that it is quite close to his heart as “it was a first for everything for me!”

Even his first shot, in front of the camera, for ‘Barsaat’ is crystal clear in his mind. Apart from these good memories, the actor sustained an injury during the last day of the shoot. The film had some fantastic fight scenes and one of them required him to ride a horse.

He said, “There was a horse riding scene, shot in London. That’s when I had the (leg fracture) accident. I still have a rod in my leg.” The last line astonished us! Looks like records weren’t the only things he broke with this film!

For some additional dramatic action scenes, the makers of the film included a fighting scene with a tiger! So, they flew to Italy for this sequence. A known zoo had some trained animals, ideal for filming scenes like these. Bobby told us that he would willingly shut his mind from thinking about being face-to-face with a tiger and just film the scene.

He joked about the pain and discomfort of a dog’s bite and how a tiger’s bite would be a lot more than that! That’s why he shot this fighting sequence with zero thoughts on his mind and it was fabulously captured for the film.
