What Is Bobby Deol’s Real Name?

Bobby Deol got a glimpse into the glitz and glam of the Bollywood industry at an early age, all thanks to his father, Dharmendra. Our guest reflected on his fun childhood and how he was grateful to witness his father’s success. This was when Kamiya suddenly remembered that Bobby had a real name!

He clarified that his real name is Vijay Singh Deol. However, he goes by Bobby, his pet name. He revealed that his cousin nicknamed him Bobby and since then, it stuck with him. Further, he explained that Punjabis have a tradition of nicknaming their kids. It is similar to Bengalis having a ‘daak naam’.

The Deol family followed this tradition and everyone in his family has a nickname! He also revealed his siblings’ actual names along with their pet names. Sunny Deol’s real name is Ajay Singh Deol; Vijeeta Deol’s nickname is Laali; and Ajeeta Deol’s nickname is Anu.

Did He Follow The Nicknaming Tradition For His Kids?

Kamiya was curious if he followed this practice of nicknaming when it came to his kids. Bobby replied, “Nahi, I was so against it. I wanted them to have one name. So, I decided when I have kids, I won’t give them nicknames.”

He even requested his sisters not to nickname his boys, Aryaman and Dharam. They obliged, but we wonder if, like typical siblings, Bobby Deol had any kind of deal with his sisters for not having pet names for his kids.
