We have often seen Bollywood heroes rushing into the airport to stop their lady love from going away. While we often wondered how they entered the premises without security checks, it looks like this man in Mumbai took some inspiration from the movies! A 45-year-old man was recently held at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport for entering the airport with a cancelled flight ticket just to say goodbye to his girlfriend.
Man Enters Mumbai Airport With Cancelled Air Ticket
Terence Saldanha, a 45-year-old teacher residing in the USA and an OCI holder, was held by the Sahar Police for illegally entering the Mumbai Airport on November 24. According to The Times of India, he was arrested while he was trying to exit the airport after claiming that his Paris flight ticket was cancelled. The airport security grew suspicious and checked the ticket only to find that the ticket he used to enter the airport was already cancelled on November 21.
When questioned, he revealed that he was aware that the flight ticket was cancelled and had deliberately used it to enter the airport premises. While talking to the Times of India, a Sahara Police officer revealed that the man only entered the airport to bid farewell to his girlfriend who was leaving for the USA on Sunday morning.
Reportedly, the man entered the Mumbai Airport through Gate No 7. He showed a Mumbai-Paris ticket to the security and entered the airport but did not board the flight. The Air France staff apprehended the man and handed him over to the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). They revealed that the man’s ticket was cancelled and he wanted to exit the airport. The authorities then investigated a little more about his ticket and found that it was already cancelled a few days back.
Arrested & Booked By The Police
Terence Saldanha has been living in the USA for over 20 years now and came to India a few days back to visit some relatives in Mumbai. After he was found guilty of entering the Mumbai Airport with a cancelled ticket, he was taken into custody and charged with cheating and forgery. His deceptive actions at the airport have caused the authorities to file a case of criminal trespassing against him as well.
