Air India and Vistara will have a merger on November 12, 2024, with Air India implementing comprehensive measures to ensure a seamless transition for passengers. The merger will affect approximately 115,000 customers who purchased Vistara tickets pre-merger and will fly with the unified airline in the first month. What To Expect From Air India After Merger With Vistara?
According to a Press Release which was recently shared by the airline, to maintain continuity, Vistara’s existing routes, schedules and in-flight experience will remain unchanged. Vistara flights will be operated under Air India’s banner with special four-digit codes beginning with ‘2’.
For instance, UK 955 will become AI 2955. Air India is bolstering customer support across Indian airports by establishing help desk kiosks, deploying specially branded staff, and coordinating with airport security.
International airports will feature dedicated support staff and informative signage near check-in areas. Vistara’s airport facilities will progressively transition to Air India branding. The merger has already seen 270,000 Vistara customers successfully migrate to Air India.
Other Important Initiatives Taken By The Airline For Prep
Notifications regarding the same were sent accordingly. Additionally, over 4.5 million Vistara loyalty programme members are being transferred to Air India’s programme. The unified airline will offer enhanced connectivity to more than 90 domestic and international destinations.
It will also provide access to over 800 destinations through partner airlines. Air India is simultaneously modernising its fleet, with six new A350 aircraft now operating between Delhi and key destinations like London and New York.
The airline’s narrow-body fleet upgrade includes the ongoing retrofit of 27 legacy aircraft, scheduled for completion by mid-2025. The refurbished A320neo aircraft will feature three classes: Business (8 seats), Premium Economy (24 seats), and Economy (132 seats).
Modern amenities include USB charging ports, PED holders, and enhanced cabin features such as improved lighting, spacious seating, and refreshed interior design elements reflecting the brand’s identity.
