BREAKING: Dubai RTA Suspends All Modes Of Marine Transport For One Month

The UAE is taking all initiatives to curb the spread of covid19. While on one hand the RTA is sterilizing all public transport, a new announcement has just been made about marine transport. Dubai RTA has suspended all modes of marine transport including Abras, Ferry and Water Taxi, until 30 April 2020. The decision comes as a precautionary measure during this critical period.

What’s It?

While the sterilization drive might end on 5 April, residents must note that all marine transport in the city will be suspended for one month. The decision is an initiative to curb the spread of covid19.

Further, following the implementation of the National Sterilisation Programme, the RTA has specified the Dubai tram operation hours daily from 7 AM to 7 PM, to ensure everyone’s safety. Full operational timetables will be restored by the end of the National Disinfection Programme. RTA also announced ceasing all marine transport services including Abras, Ferry and Water Taxi, until 30th April 2020 as part of the precautionary measures taken.

The RTA further added that during the hours of implementing the National Sterilisation Programme, the taxi service will be provided to the public through the Careem and Uber apps. A fleet of public transport buses will operate on 13 lines: 8, 10, 12, 13 A, 17, 24, C01, C07, F18, F21, F34, F43 and X23; with a trip every 30 minutes, starting from 8:00 PM until 6:00 AM, and these lines serve 19 government and private hospitals.

Moreover, considering the pressing situation, the RTA has also enabled online driver license renewal service, without conducting a vision test.
