Breast Milk Ice Cream, Anyone? US-Based Baby Brand Launches Unusual Flavour; Internet Split

British baby brand Frida has caused quite a stir with their latest announcement. In celebration of their new 2-in-1 manual breast pump, they plan to launch a breast milk ice cream called ‘Postpartum’ in nine months’ time. Understandably, this has drawn a lot of ire from social media. The whole thing is a bit reminiscent of the Friends episode where one of the main characters, Ross, goes through a series of emotions (mostly disgust) while trying and failing to taste breast milk from his ex-wife.

According to their press release, this peculiar product aims to answer what they believe is everyone’s “secret wonder” about the taste of breast milk. They describe it as a “pitch perfect representation of the sweet, creamy, nutrient packed goodness” containing omega-3 fats, energy-boosting lactose, vitamins and minerals.

A spokesperson confirmed this is no April Fool’s prank, even suggesting they anticipate “strong demand” for the unusual flavour. The internet, however, has responded with overwhelming distaste.

The announcement has sparked debate about whether this is merely a shock-value marketing strategy, a genuine product development, or perhaps a misguided attempt to gauge public interest in unconventional flavours.

This Is How Netizens Reacted To This Unusual Flavour

Comments range from the bemused—”Just imagine the marketing meeting for this”—to the disgusted—”I think I might throw up”. Many questioned the necessity of such a product, with reactions like “No one asked for this” and “The world just keeps getting worse” dominating social media.

Some raised more probing questions about the development process: “If it’s ‘flavoured’ like breast milk, who’s the test group confirming this flavour?” Another commenter wondered, “Does this imply that people might know what breast milk tastes like already?”

While Frida seems confident in their unusual ice cream venture, public opinion appears firmly against sampling this particular dairy innovation. One commenter summed up the prevailing sentiment rather succinctly: “I’m going to judge anyone that I see buys this.”
