More About Taj Mahal And Humayun’s Tomb

Located on the right bank of the Yamuna River in a vast Mughal garden of about 17 hectares, in the Agra District in Uttar Pradesh, the Taj Mahal is a massive mausoleum of white marble, built between 1631 and 1648 by order of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his favorite wife, Mumtaz. The Taj Mahal is one of the most admired masterpieces and one of the wonders of the World.

Humayun’s tomb is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun in Delhi, India, and was commissioned by Humayun’s chief consort, Empress Hamida Banu Begum under the patronage of her son Akbar, in 1558. Empress Hamida Banu Begum had chosen two Persian architects, Mirak Mirza Ghiyas and his son, Sayyid Muhammad, to design the tomb. The tomb is the first example of Mughal architecture in India. No doubt Bridgerton Star Phoebe Dynevor included these two legendary monuments in her itinerary.
