On Sunday, British Airways cancelled more than 30 short-haul flights, including two round trips to and from Vienna. Popular holiday spots like Malaga, Nice, and Rome have been hit by these cancellations. The airline’s issues extend beyond Heathrow, affecting flights from London City and Gatwick airports as well.

At London City Airport, British Airways has scrapped flights to Malaga, Nice, and Rotterdam. These cancellations contribute to the mounting frustration of travellers relying on the airline for their weekend getaways. Meanwhile, at Gatwick Airport, the airline has cancelled flights to destinations such as Marrakech and Turin. Long-haul services from Gatwick have also been affected, with flights to Tampa and Las Vegas among those cancelled. Additionally, a Gatwick-Tenerife flight has faced a substantial 10-hour delay, further compounding the difficulties for passengers.

The disruptions began on Friday and continued through Saturday, with British Airways cancelling more than 160 flights from Heathrow alone. The airline cited poor weather conditions and air traffic control restrictions at its primary base as the reasons for the cancellations. The combination of adverse weather and air traffic limitations has created a perfect storm of delays and cancellations, affecting thousands of passengers.

No other airlines have reported similar levels of cancellations from Heathrow on the same day. For passengers whose flights have been cancelled, British Airways advises contacting them directly through their official channels. British Airways has instructed affected passengers to send their booking reference and relevant information via direct message (DM) for further assistance.

To avoid falling victim to such scams, it is essential for passengers to verify that they are communicating with legitimate British Airways representatives. Always use official contact methods provided by the airline and be cautious of unsolicited messages or requests for personal information.
