This time, the Mumbai-Ahmedabad road stretch connecting Naigaon and Virar is making the headlines for potholes and cracks. People are complaining regarding these issues of the highway.
Cracks And Potholes Seen On Mumbai-Ahmedabad Stretch Between Naigaon & Virar
According to a report by Mid-Day, this stretch connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad is now showing visible cracks and potholes between Naigaon and Virar. It has not been a long time since the cement concrete road was developed. Many people commuting on this stretch have started to raise questions about the road’s quality, the kind of materials used to construct it, and more.
Presently, a white-topping project is taking place on this national highway. It is ongoing between Varsova Bridge and Acchad close to the Maharashtra-Gujarat border. The crucial project has a huge cost of ₹553 crore. The central government has approved it. Currently, the National Highway Authority of India is handling the project on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad national highway between Varsova Bridge and Acchad.
The construction procedure is continuing in full swing. Unfortunately, many commuters, including motorists commuting on National Highway 48 are coming across several issues such as traffic congestion. Vehicles are facing regular traffic jams, especially during rush hours throughout the day. People are getting frustrated facing such obstacles while travelling on the road. These issues often delay their journeys as well.

What Are They Complaining About?
The Mid-Day report stated commuters mentioned multiple inconveniences on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad stretch linking Varsova Bridge and Virar Phata. The cement concrete road has become uneven in several places as the top layer of cement is already coming off. Also, there are visible potholes and cracks in other portions of the long highway on the new road stretch. All these issues can not only become major obstacles but extremely harmful and risky for accidents as well.
