Built In 1876, This Museum In Jaipur Is A Time Capsule To Rajasthan’s Royal Past

The magnificent Albert Hall Museum is situated at Ram Niwas Garden. It is spread across 16 acres and is a sight to behold. It was designed by Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob and was built in 1876 to commemorate the welcoming of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales.

With its intricate and symmetric architecture, you will be in awe of the monument. It is a mixture of Indo-Saracenic and European styles. The museum is rich in Rajasthani heritage, history and culture. If the exteriors of the monument have ignited your interest, then wait till you see the museum from the inside.

It is divided into 16 galleries, where you will find Rajasthani miniature art, which will help you immerse in the diverse culture and history of the Rajasthani people.

Then, they have traditional clothes and costumes worn by the royals displayed here. The dresses that were used in any ceremonial activity are also present and reveal some hidden details. Surprisingly, there is a 2300-year-old Egyptian Mummy in the exhibition as well, and might not have to travel to Egypt!

Rajasthanis and their weapon collection never go out of style. They were brave warriors, and they took pride in that. You will find great armour and ancient weapons neatly on display. Another interesting gallery is for the coin collection. You will find ancient coins used by the Mughals and British empires. History buffs will have a gala time here!

If you are visiting it during the evening hours, then do not miss the light show and the timings are from 7 PM to 10 PM.
