At Cafe Olympic in Nagasaki, Japan, a 1.2-metre-tall parfait has diners and the internet in a chokehold. Resembling no less than an edible work of art, this parfait is essentially a dessert tower. To make this indulgence, the chef first adds scoops of chocolate ice cream followed by a pink scoop, likely strawberry, to create an ice cream base.

In no time, the dessert is layered with crunchy cornflakes for texture, followed by ice cream scoops of varied flavours. It’s then decorated with slices of kiwi and banana, dried apricots, whipped cream and more. Cones filled with soft-serve and other ice creams are additions to the tall glass of parfait. Slices of freshly baked cakes are also added to make this dessert tower. A skewer holds together this tower. Slices of strawberry and chocolate sauce beautify the extravaganza and pack the dessert with freshness.
