The much-anticipated stretch connecting the Coastal Road to the Bandra-Worli Sea Link was inaugurated in Mumbai on Thursday. As per a Mid-Day report, this is the third opening for the 10.5-km stretch of the coastal bridge within three months. However, this opening also marked the end of free rides on Mumbai’s Coastal Road. Reportedly, commuters will now have to pay toll at the Bandra exit of this road.
Northbound traffic was allowed on this new stretch from Friday at 7 AM. This development also came with the news that the previously toll-free road will now levy tolls on the commuters. As per Mid-Day, vehicles that move directly onto the sea link must pay ₹100 at the Bandra exit.

One arm of the arch bridge on the Mumbai Coastal Road was inaugurated by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday. Connecting the Mumbai Coastal Road to the Bandra Worli Sea Link, this new stretch will allow commuters to travel from Marine Drive to Bandra in just 10 minutes! Furthermore, connectivity between South Mumbai and the suburbs is also expected to improve.
For now, the bridge is open to northbound traffic between 7 AM to 11 PM on weekdays. Southbound traffic will have to take the existing route till both arms of the Coastal Road are connected with the sea link, Mid-Day reported. This stretch was earlier slated to open by the end of July. However, due to the monsoon and technical issues, it was delayed.
