Study Says Coffee Reduces Premature Ageing & Wrinkles
As per a report by The Indian Express, Dr DM Mahajan, senior dermatologist at Delhi’s Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals threw light on the connection between coffee and wrinkle-free skin. She stated that freshly brewed black coffee is packed with antioxidant benefits. Polyphenols, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds present in roasted coffee have many benefits.
This includes hydrating the skin, delaying wrinkles and improving the elasticity of the skin. They also help in reducing other signs of ageing. The study published recommends drinking three to five cups of coffee per day to slow down the ageing of facial skin.
So, if coffee is the secret to youthful skin, what type of coffee is ideal? The research and Dr DM Mahajan recommend darker roasts. The higher concentration of N-methylpyridinium is the reason. This is a compound formed during the roasting process and it packs the roast with strong antioxidant properties. But lighter roasts also have their own benefits. They retain higher amounts of chlorogenic acids which are potent antioxidants.

What’s The Ideal Coffee For Youthful Skin?
Arabica coffee has more antioxidants than Robusta. Also, to avoid potential pesticides, it’s best to sip organic coffee. For cold brew lovers, there’s good news as well. This brew preserves more antioxidants due to its brewing method. The research indicates people drink coffee according to their individual preferences. But the most ideal coffee would be a freshly brewed black coffee made of dark roast.
Preferably, without milk or sugar. Both sugar and milk may cause inflammation and negate the benefits of the beverage. So, one can opt for plant-based milk alternatives. Coffee has the potential to combat premature ageing, and cell damage and protects one from UV radiation.
