The Mumbai Metropolitan Regional Development Authority or MMRDA has unveiled an ambitious new plan for the city. The plan will cost a whopping ₹58,000 crore and will happen over the course of five years. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this revolutionary road transport plan in Mumbai.

According to an article which was recently published by The Indian Express or IE, this plan entails roads, tunnels and bridges. The entirety of Mumbai will be surrounded by an intricate network of Ring Roads. The total estimated cost of this plan estimated as of now is ₹58,000 crore.

These roads, bridges and tunnels will stretch across 90 kilometres. The plan has been proposed with the aim of resolving traffic snarls in the city. The financial capital of the country has been witnessing an increasing number of population influx.

What is more its distinctive geographical features make it difficult to build effective infrastructure facilities. Hence, this ambitious new project aims to make travelling within the city by road easier. It aims to revolutionise road transport by reducing the travel time from one end of the city to the another in just one hour.

What Other Things Does The Plan Entail?

As of now, the plan consists of a total of seven outer and inner ring roads. These ring roads will be developed by bodies like the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation or BMC. The National Highways Authority Of India or NHAI will also aid in bringing this plan to life.

Although the aim of the project is productive, it is hoped that the city will not face more difficulties during the construction of these projects. It is also hoped that these projects will be made in an eco-friendly manner.
