Catamaran Built In Goa Is Now Handed Over To The Maldives By Goa CM Pramod Sawant

Vijai Marine Shipyard is a private shipping service in Goa and it has recently built a 30-metre catamaran for the Ministry of Environment. IIT Kharagpur joined hands with this company for designing it. Named “Thinaaveshi”, this vessel was developed to hand over to the Maldives government. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant handed over this goods vessel to the government of Maldives on 22 May 2023. Read on to know all about this brand-new catamaran, Thimaaveshi.

Goa CM Pramod Sawant Inaugurated This Catamaran On Monday

The Chief Minister took to his official Twitter page to share some glimpses and snippets of flagging off this 30-metre-long vessel. He handed over this catamaran developed by Vijay Marine Shipyard in the presence of MLA Shri Aleixo Sequeira and other esteemed attendees.

He shared how this development in Goa is a proud moment for the state and the ShipBuilding sector. Also, it is a huge step taken to improve the Make In Goa and Make in India in the shipbuilding sector. The vessel will be leaving for the Maldives on 23 May 2023. The Maldivian government representatives will take it to their nation on Tuesday.

According to a report by Business Standard, the CM shared that this 30-metre-long catamaran is the largest vessel built in our country. This is not the first when this state made its contribution to the sector. The shipping industry of Goa is working on important projects since the year 1961.

What Are The Functions Of This Vessel?

The representatives of the Maldives government were in India to take this catamaran and sail it to their country. This vessel will help the Maldives to work on different projects and focus on several environmental aspects.
