Mumbai is a bustling city with not much greenery around. So, you can imagine the surprise on people’s faces when they spotted one of the big cats strolling through the streets of Mumbai. Seeing a cat on the street may be routine for a lot of people but seeing a big cat is definitely a surprise. A leopard was spotted on camera just casually strolling through the lanes of Andheri in Mumbai.

Leopard Spotted In The Marol Area Of Andheri East

Multiple footages of a leopard strolling through the streets of Bhavani Nagar in the Marol area of Andheri East has been posted on Twitter, the famous micro-blogging website. The videos were taken during the nighttime when the streets were deserted.

It seems that the leopard only comes out and is spotted on cameras at night. This makes sense since at night, the streets are empty and the leopard can safely come out of its hiding place. The videos posted on the website show the leopard snaking through the streets quietly and steadily.

Forest Department Alerted; Residents Afraid For Their Lives

One of the tweets mentioned that it has been three days since the leopard was first spotted. Since then, the wild animal has made appearances on various security cameras, mostly at night. The residents of the area feel extremely unsafe and threatened and are afraid for their lives.

They are worried that in an unfortunate series of events, the leopard might attack, hurt, maim, and even fatally injure a person. However, an officer from the forest department, Mr. Shinde, has been contacted.

As per many sources, the forest department is currently working on how to tactfully handle and capture the leopard while ensuring that neither the residents nor the wild animal are harmed in the endeavour.

The Forest department will also conduct sensitivity programmes that will inform the residents about what to do should they cross paths with the poor unfortunate animal. Hopefully, it will be safely captured soon and will be transported back to its natural habitat unharmed.
