Best Friends For Over 50 Years, Mohan Babu Shares Where He First Met Rajinikanth

On a truly special episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, sat down with Telugu superstar Mohan Babu, one of the most iconic and respected actors in Indian cinema. With an illustrious career spanning decades, he has acted in over 500 movies and produced more than 60 films, becoming a legend known for his discipline, impactful dialogue delivery, and larger-than-life screen presence. Over an authentic Andhra Sunday Brunch, he opened up about his life, career, upbringing, love for food, and much more.

Mohan Babu Has Been Friends With Rajinikanth For Over 50 Years

In a fun segment during the episode, we showed Mohan Babu a few images that reflected significant milestones in his life, one of them being the Mohan Babu University he founded and another of him with his dearest friend, superstar Rajinikanth. The moment he saw that picture, his face lit up with a smile as he fondly spoke about their 50-year-old friendship. He lovingly called Rajinikanth his best friend and the best human being, sharing how the superstar himself once had a short temper but worked on controlling it.

He often encourages Mohan Babu to do the same. “Just reading books is not enough,” Rajinikanth tells him, “we must also live by them.” Did you know? Their incredible friendship began purely by accident. Yes, around five decades ago, when both were struggling actors, they happened to meet at the Madras railway station. That accidental encounter turned into a lifelong bond that both cherish deeply.

An Authentic Andhra Meal Served On Banana Leaves

Finally, it was time to indulge in the authentic Andhra meal with Mohan Babu. Before we sat down, we got a sneak peek into the kitchen at his home, where he was directing his staff in his signature angry tone. Well, the tone works like magic, as everyone instantly sped up their pace! Once we began, fresh banana leaves were laid out in front of us. Mohan Babu personally taught us how to properly clean them and shared the many benefits of eating from banana leaves instead of regular plates.
