Central Railway Alters Timetable For 83 Suburban Trains In Mumbai
Central Railway has announced some key adjustments in the timetable of around 83 Mumbai Main Line suburban trains. As per The Indian Express report, with these new adjustments, Central Railway hopes to avoid delays caused by mismatched schedules. The authorities believe that once the timetable comes into effect on October 5, it will allow passengers to plan their journeys more accurately. The new timetable for these trains has been revised in accordance with the timings of the mail/express trains.
One of the most notable changes in this revised timetable is the extension of services in various routes. According to reports, 21 trains that previously originated or terminated at Dadar will now run up to Parel. Besides benefiting the commuters, it will help ease congestion at the Dadar Station. Furthermore, the new Platform No. 11 at Dadar Station will also be used to alleviate congestion. Also, trains that previously originated or terminated at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will now be shifted to Dadar. This will help lessen the crowd at CSMT, especially during rush hours.
All You Need To Know About The New Timetable
According to the new timetable issued by the Central Railway, six trains that currently start or end at Thane will now extend their services to Kalyan. This will, reportedly, provide better connectivity for passengers on this route and also reduce the need for additional transfers. Nine new services have also been introduced between Thane and Kalyan, with stops at Kurla and Dombivli.
Besides these extensions, 20 fast locals, 10 up and 10 down services, will operate from Dadar station instead of CSMT. Also, nine services are to run with revised timings and train numbers and 10 services will run with revised originating/terminating stations.
