If you’ve been following the news lately, you know that 2023, so far, has been a year of earthquakes. From the series of tragic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, that left several dead and even more homeless and destitute, to the earthquake in Ecuador yesterday. There have been multiple big and small earthquakes so far. Now, it seems that India is next. The town of Chamba in Himachal Pradesh recently felt an earthquake.
Chamba In Himachal Pradesh Shaken By An Earthquake
The region of Chamba in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh recently received a jolt when it was shaken by an earthquake. The earthquake took place on the morning of Monday, the 20th of March. The earthquake hit the region around 8:00 in the morning.
Reports suggest that the tremors awoke the sleeping villagers and who then came outside of their homes to inspect what was going on. According to sources, the earthquake was measured at 3.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale.
It is important to note that not much damage or loss of lives took place as a result of this earthquake. However, earthquakes have been becoming increasingly common throughout the world lately. Some time ago, a region in Japan, too, was struck by an earthquake. But not much damage happened.

Earthquake-Prone Region In Himachal
Chamba, the town in Himachal which was the epicentre of the earthquake, is said to be prone to such seismic activity. According to data, it is one of Himachal’s earthquake-prone zones. The data also revealed that the earthquake was nearly 10 kilometres deep.
Although no reports of any damage or loss have been recorded, the residents of Chamba did receive a huge shock because of the earthquake. People surely must have been afraid for their lives as well as for their houses.
It was reported that the earthquake caused quite a lot of commotion and that people found the tremors extremely panic-inducing. Just yesterday, Ecuador, too, was hit by a massive earthquake measuring more than 6 magnitudes on the Richter scale.
