In the realm of fine wines, CHANDON has long been synonymous with excellence. However, with the unveiling of CHANDON Aurva, the brand has taken an audacious leap into the world of still wines, marking a historic moment in the domain of Indian winemaking. It is a symphony of expertise orchestrated by Kaushal Khairnar, the head winemaker of CHANDON India, and Dan Buckle, the winemaking director at CHANDON Australia. This dynamic duo brings together decades of experience and a shared passion for pushing the boundaries of winemaking. The result? CHANDON Aurva – a masterpiece!
Aurva, CHANDON’s First Still Red Wine
The journey of Aurva began with a vision to create India’s premium homegrown wine. This wine celebrates the rich terroir of Nashik, Maharashtra. Inspired by the success of CHANDON’s Shiraz sparkling wine, the winemakers saw an opportunity to delve deeper into the region’s potential. They explored its unique soils and climate to craft a new expression of excellence.
With a team of sixteen winemakers from seven different nationalities, spanning Argentina, Brazil, California, Australia, China, and India, CHANDON thrives on the exchange of ideas and savoir-faire. It certainly enriches the winemaking process with diverse perspectives.
At the heart of Aurva lies a commitment to quality and integrity. From carefully selecting locally sourced Shiraz grapes, hand-harvested by CHANDON partner growers in Nashik, to the meticulous ageing process in French oak barrels, every step represents the brand’s unwavering dedication to excellence.
