Traditionally, the Change of Guard ceremony is the periodic changing of guards and sentries at palaces, forts, and defence installations, depicting vigilance and continuity. At Rashtrapati Bhavan, it has been refurbished to be more interesting and people-orientated. The addition of an equestrian drill by the PBG, which marches in ceremonial dress, gives a dynamic fillip to the event. The shift to the Forecourt area also gives a grander backdrop and makes it easily accessible to the public.
