Chef Gary Mehigan, renowned for his gastronomic wizardry showcased on MasterChef Australia, has ventured into the heart of India with a mission: to orchestrate an exclusive dining extravaganza in Gurgaon, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad, in partnership with The Ardmore. But that didn’t stop him from taking some time to explore the flavours of the Himalayas at Naar restaurant.
Chef Gary Mehigan’s Culinary Sojourn At Naar
In his quest for culinary excellence, Chef Gary took a detour to explore the tranquil beauty of the Himalayas. It was during this journey that he stumbled upon a hidden gem, a culinary oasis nestled amidst the majestic peaks – Restaurant Naar by the visionary Chef Prateek Sadhu.
Naar, meaning fire in Kashmiri, is a testament to Chef Prateek’s fervent passion for Himalayan cuisine. With every dish, Chef Prateek seeks to weave a tapestry of flavours, each narrating a story of the Himalayan landscape and its people. The menu, a symphony of seasonal ingredients sourced exclusively from the Himalayan belt, promises to transport diners on a gastronomic journey through the six unique seasons of the region.
For Chef Mehigan, dining at Naar was not just a meal. It was also an experience that left an indelible mark on his palate and his heart. Taking to Instagram, he shared his enthusiasm, declaring the journey to Chandigarh and the subsequent two-hour drive into the Himalayas more than worth it.

He perfectly described the dishes he savoured there, like the Masala Carrot, cooked in chaas, and the Sunderkala, hand-rolled noodles from Uttarakhand paired with blood sausage.
But it wasn’t just the elaborate dishes that captured Chef Mehigan’s attention. It was also the simplicity and sincerity of creations like the Tiny Tasting of Himalayan Cheese with apple jam and pine honey. Through each bite, Chef Mehigan could sense the deep-rooted love for their craft and the mountainous terrain that inspired it.
