The celebrity chef Ranveer Brar joined our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, for this lovely episode of Tere Gully Mein. This time, we were in the galliyan of the picturesque Alibaug near Mumbai to have yummy seafood, hearty conversations and learn tips and tricks from the skilful chef. He reflected on his journey of being a chef in renowned restaurants, opening an eatery in Boston, cooking on television shows, being a MasterChef judge and finally, having a cooking channel. He spilled the beans about it all; read on.

Why Was Ranveer Brar Tired Of Cooking On Television Shows?

People admire chef Ranveer and his signature style of storytelling while cooking on his popular YouTube channel. It is therapeutic to watch him cook and dive deep into the history and culture of recipes from around the world while narrating factual information. We, as avid followers of Ranveer, couldn’t wait to talk about his YouTube fame.

To our surprise, our guest revealed that he stepped into the world of YouTube as he was deeply fed up with cooking on television. The work ethic didn’t satisfy him when it came to cooking shows on television. There was little room for creativity as the schedules were rigid, and multiple recipes were shot within a stipulated time.

Ranveer Brar elaborated that sometimes three cooking episodes were filmed in a day. Each episode had multiple recipes and shooting so much content within a day became hectic. The makers of the show would demand as he said and we quote, “You have to shoot nine recipes in a day, Ranveer.” And following this routine made him unhappy as a chef.

Ranveer slowly realised the harsh reality and said, “The joy of cooking goes away.” This was the primary reason that motivated him to shift to creating content on YouTube. The rest is history!
