A chef, a storyteller, an actor, a poet and a judge on MasterChef India; Ranveer Brar is a man who dons many feathers in his chef’s hat. This time Chef Ranveer visited our restaurant Shifuku by Curly Tales for a Sunday Brunch with our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani. A sushi-making session followed by insights into his interesting life were the things we were most excited about. Moreover, Ranveer Brar also shared a very helpful tip for bakers.
Ranveer Brar Doles Out Helpful Tips To Bakers
While devouring a lavish Pan-Asian meal at Shifuku with Kamiya Jani, Chef Ranveer Brar generously doled out tips for bakers. When it comes to home bakers wanting to scale their business, Ranveer advises them that opening a restaurant isn’t the only option. He gave examples like cloud kitchens, which help foodpreneurs scale with fewer resources.
The biggest difference he finds between home cooks and restaurateurs is that home cooks work on signature dishes. Whereas restaurants work on menus. The chef believes that if home cooks start working on 40 different dishes then neither can they make a name for themselves nor is it a viable opportunity. “Home cooks work on signature dishes. Agar mein achhi brownie banata hoon then that can be my business,” says Ranveer.

Chef Gives Saransh Goila’s Example
Kamiya asked Ranveer if it’s possible for home cooks to build a successful business with just a signature dish. “Look at Saransh (Goila)! I tell everyone about him.” Saransh Goila built Goila Butter Chicken, a very successful cloud kitchen that celebrates his signature smoky, creamy Butter Chicken, a recipe straight out of his home kitchen.
Well, we were very pleased that Chef Ranveer Brar enjoyed the food at Shifuku. He also complimented the cream cheese dumplings and said the food was “very nice”. Apart from the food, the interiors, with pastel-tones and cherry blossom decor impressed him as well. Coming from a doyen in the culinary industry like Ranveer, means the world to us!
