Eric Garcetti, the US ambassador to India recently gorged on an authentic Maharashtrian feast in Delhi. From kokum sherbet, vada pav to his “favourite” Saoji mutton, he relished it all. Now, after a hearty Maharashtrian meal, his culinary journey in India has brought him to Tamil Nadu Bhawan in Delhi. Here, he tasted the flavours of Chennai on a banana leaf.
US Ambassador To India Enjoyed A Lavish Feast At Delhi’s Tamil Nadu Bhawan
The US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, is such a foodie that he has his own web show “Savouring India with Ambassador Garcetti”. He recently tweeted a new video of himself relishing an authentic South Indian banana leaf thali at Delhi’s Tamil Nadu Bhawan. He supplemented his video with a caption where he mentions trying the iconic South Indian thali on the banana leaf. What impressed him the most was the complexity of the delicious delights.

“Chennai you have my heart” he tweets, as he is excited to visit soon. He starts the video with a hearty “Vanakkam” as he introduces his team members, dressed in their traditional attire. ” No fork, no spoon, no knife, everything is right here”, says Garcetti sitting right in front of his banana leaf, as he shows his hands.
Eating With Hands Enhanced The Meal’s Taste
The clip captures the US Ambassador relishing a feast of rice, sambhar, papad, paddu, cabbage palya and other delicacies from Chennai. He understands from his colleagues that the meal must cover all flavours from sweet to sour to spicy. The foodie goes on to add that the meal tastes and feels good as he is eating with his hands. During his meal, Eric Garcetti also meets children who have come to enjoy a meal with their families. He greets them and gives them a hearty high five.

Apart from the hearty South Indian banana leaf meal, he drinks piping hot filter kaapi. Then, ends his meal on a refreshing note with paan. Chennai definitely has his heart and the US Ambassador to India can’t wait to visit the city.
