Cillian Murphy stated that he enjoys acting with his body in a 2023 interview with The New York Times. Oppenheimer, he noticed, had a really distinct body and silhouette that he wanted to capture accurately.
They worked with the costume and tailoring, and he had to shed a lot of weight. Oppenheimer lived off of martinis and cigarettes and was extremely thin, almost malnourished.
To achieve the best authenticity level, Cillian Murphy followed a strict diet and workout routine. Emily Blunt, who is playing his on-screen wife, Kitty Oppenheimer, expressed her shock in an interview with Extra.
Emily revealed that the actor would eat only one almond every day to achieve the body needed for this role.

The Diet Was Limiting

Although Cillian Murphy did not follow J Robert Oppenheimer’s rumoured diet of cigarettes and martinis, it is unknown exactly how he shed pounds. It has been suggested, though, that the diet was rather limiting.
Cillian recently talked about his weight reduction and how he almost fell into bad habits by going a little too far. While talking to The Guardian, he said that one might get a little bit competitive with themselves, which is not good. Hence, he does not advise it.
Murphy’s commitment to authenticity comes through in his portrayal of the renowned scientist, despite the difficulties. He made it clear that the body of the character, not the numbers on a scale, was the main focus while refusing to disclose the amount of weight he had shed for the part.
When Oppenheimer premieres in theatres on July 21, viewers can anticipate seeing Murphy provide a memorable performance that vividly depicts J. Robert Oppenheimer’s riveting life story and his significant historical significance.
