According to an article which was recently published by livemint, the complaint alleges that BookMyShow employed unethical practices during the official ticket sale on 22 September 2024. The complaint alleged that the platforms prevented genuine fans from purchasing tickets.

Vyas accuses the platform of manipulating access by logging out legitimate users or blocking them entirely. This lets ticket bots and black-market operators dominate sales. He also claims that tickets sold out rapidly on BookMyShow. Then, they appeared on third-party resale sites, such as Viagogo, at inflated prices.

The solicitor is seeking to register a First Information Report or FIR under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. These include organised crime, cheating, criminal conspiracy and criminal breach of trust.

In addition to this, Vyas intends to file a public interest litigation or PIL with the Bombay High Court. He aims to set guidelines for major events to prevent similar fraudulent activities in future. BookMyShow has filed a police complaint regarding the alleged sale of counterfeit tickets for the Coldplay concert on certain platforms.

The online ticket aggregator stated it is not associated with any ticket-selling or reselling platforms like Viagogo and Gigsberg. They said that they weren’t associated with third-party individuals reselling tickets for Coldplay’s Music Of The Spheres World Tour 2025 in India.

Coldplay is set to return to India after an eight-year hiatus. Concerts are scheduled at DY Patil Stadium, Navi Mumbai, on 18, 19 and 21 January 2025.
