For travellers who appreciate history or enjoy collecting keepsakes, we have special news. Philately Passport by the Karnataka Postal Circle is your next must-have for a travel adventure turned treasure hunt! Think of it as a unique travel journal, stamp album, and cultural treasure hunt, all rolled into one. Whether you love visiting new places, collecting souvenirs, or learning about history and culture, this passport is going to make your next few road trips extra special.

The Philately Passport Is A Travel Must-Have

The Philately Passport is a special travel booklet that allows you to visit some of Karnataka’s most famous locations and get postmarks from each one. Originally released on January 25, 2025, it is available in Hindi, Kannada, and English.

But this is not like your regular passport. This one is meant just for travel lovers and collectors. You buy the passport, visit famous places across Karnataka, and at each stop, you get a special stamp-like mark called a Permanent Pictorial Cancellation (PPC) from the nearby post office. Each PPC is like a special postmark that shows a picture or symbol of that place, person, or event.

How Does It Work?

  • The passport costs ₹550 and is available in three languages: English, Kannada, and Hindi. You can buy it at the philatelic bureaus in Bengaluru, Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Belagavi, or at major post offices.
  • Visit any of the 80 special places listed in your passport. These places have been chosen because of their importance in Karnataka’s history, culture, and architecture.
  • At the post office near each landmark, you stick a postage stamp on the page and get a special black cancellation mark called a PPC.
  • You don’t need to go far to begin. Even in Bengaluru, PPCs are available at seven different post offices.

Discover Karnataka’s History And Heritage

Collecting stamps is like discovering Karnataka’s hidden gems one by one. On the left-hand pages of the passport, you’ll find simple and interesting descriptions about each landmark or event. So, you’re not just collecting stamps; you’re also learning about Karnataka’s amazing heritage. The first Permanent Pictorial Cancellation (PPC) of Karnataka was released in Badami way back in 1987! Since then, one PPC has been added for each district.

The Philately Passport is perfect for families wanting a fun, educational outing, history buffs, culture lovers, and anyone who wants to experience Karnataka in a new and exciting way. Pick up your Philately Passport today at your nearest Head Post Office or the Philately Bureau in Karnataka. Start with the landmarks close to you, collect those beautiful stamps, and slowly explore the whole state.

Go explore, collect, and treasure Karnataka like never before.
