Travelling To European Countries To Get Costlier
According to an article which was recently published by livemint, a number of destinations in Europe are planning to impose a tourist tax. As per the article, this is being done in order to recover losses incurred during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Imposing taxes on tourists would be a way to generate additional revenue. This will aid in recovering some of the losses incurred during that time. Figueira da Foz in Portugal, Paris in France, and Amsterdam in the Netherlands are some of the European destinations that are levying the tourist tax.

To Recover Losses Incurred During COVID-19 Pandemic
As per the article, tourists will have to pay nearly a 200 per cent increase in the tax that tourists pay when staying in hotels. The bill for raising the said tax has already been approved by the policymakers of France.
In Amsterdam, taxes will now be increased by 12.5 per cent of the hotel room price. This measure, too, is approved by the Dutch policymakers. Cruise passengers and tourist visitors staying overnight alike will have to pay this additional tax.
In Portugal’s Figueira da Foz, a tourist tax will be imposed which will vary depending on the number of nights spent at the destination.
