In an ambitious move to enhance urban transportation, Uber is set to launch a premium bus service in the Delhi-NCR region starting in August. This innovative service promises a comfortable and convenient travel experience.
New Bus Services In Delhi
Uber’s premium bus service will feature state-of-the-art amenities designed to attract a wide range of commuters. The ambitious program will be implemented by the city administration in August. Authorities say that residents of Delhi will be able to reserve seats in air-conditioned buses operated by private companies. This will allow passengers to track bus locations in real time, plan their journeys, and receive notifications.
The Delhi government announced last year that the premium bus service would begin operating under the Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Buses) Scheme. The program attempts to reduce pollution and the amount of private vehicles used within cities.
In an article published by NDTV, two aggregators, Uber and Aaveg, have been given licenses to operate buses in Delhi-NCR under the plan. They are currently finalising the routes on which the services would begin, according to a transport department official. The two aggregators are required to submit the routes, driver information, and bus information to the transport department, according to sources in the department.

The buses will be equipped with air conditioning (AC) to provide respite from the often sweltering heat of the region. Expect an air-conditioned luxury bus that can accommodate nine passengers or more, has designated reclining seats, and has WiFi, GPS, and CCTV. Bus operating on compressed natural gas (CNG) cannot be older than three years, and any buses joining the service after January 1, 2025, must be electric. There will be both CNG and electric buses in the fleet.
Either the last week of July or the first week of August will see the buses flagged off. Every route that the buses will travel has been tested and reviewed. The buses will have 41 seats. The Aaveg app will let users reserve seats.
The service is aimed at anyone looking for a reliable and comfortable alternative to the existing public transportation options. These include working professionals, students, and anyone who prefers a more premium travel experience.
As the service rolls out in August, all eyes will be on how it performs and whether it can set a new benchmark for public transportation in the capital.
