Google Maps recently got updated significantly and one of its latest innovations is to enable metro ticket booking facilities in Chennai and Kochi. The unique feature is coming into effect from this week.

Google collaborated with the Open Network of Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Namma Yatri for this exciting feature. According to a report by The Hindu, Google has plans to launch the service of availing metro tickets using Google Maps in other Indian cities as well.

Metro passengers using Android mobiles can only make the best use of this feature in Kochi and Chennai presently. Namma Yatri will be responsible for controlling this ticket booking and payment process, according to a report by Moneycontrol.

The partnership of Google, ONDC, and Namma Yatri is likely to transform the experience of booking metro tickets. It will be a major help for daily commuters, especially in saving time by avoiding long lines during rush hours.

The steps to book metro tickets using Google Maps are simple and everyone can easily get their tickets online. There will be no hassle to wait for everyone ahead of you to purchase metro tickets. Google stated that an all-new “booking option for the Metro leg of your trip” appears when users are searching for public transport directions in Chennai and Kochi, according to a report by Business Standard.

Commuters need to tap on the option to continue to the ticket booking and payment process. By adding all the necessary details and completing the payment, they can quickly book metro tickets with the help of Google Maps and get the QR code ticket.
