New Report Reveals Shifts In Honeymoon Travel Trends
A new report by Thomas Cook and SOTC Travel reveals an almost 30% increase in searches by honeymooners, and couples celebrating anniversaries and special occasions. They found that from merely romantic, the new-age couples now want to indulge in outdoor adventure, unique stays, and discover new cuisines during their honeymoon.
As per their data, they found a growing demand for outdoor adventures among couples. They reported that more couples are now interested in activities like mangrove kayaking in Abu Dhabi, white water rafting in Rishikesh, black water rafting in New Zealand, waterfall abseiling in Malaysia, wadi-hopping in Oman, paragliding in Bir Billing, biking trips in Leh-Ladakh, jeep safaris in Jaisalmer, and even snow sports in Switzerland.
They also noted that couples are now happy to spend more money on their vacations. Their data shows that there has been a 10-15% Y-o-Y increase in travel spending among couples. This aligns with the growing demand for exclusive and premium accommodation. Couples now prefer unique stays like Chalet stay in Switzerland, an underwater villa in the Maldives, and private wildlife resort tents in Madhya Pradesh during their vacations.
Besides this, couples are also looking for culinary experiences during their vacations. They want to enjoy champagne breakfast during Cappadocia balloon rides, Bustronome (gourmet dining onboard a double-decker bus) in Paris, pub crawls in Ibiza, and a masterclass with a local chef in France!

For this, they are opting for mini-moons (short 3-4 days honeymoon to nearby destinations), which is later followed by a longer 7-15 days mega-moon when they have more vacation time. In another trend, Thomas Cook and SOTC Travel found that couples are also indulging in baby moons, travelling and spending quality time with their spouse before the birth of their baby.
So, where are young honeymooners travelling this season? As per the report, in India, Andaman, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, North East, Goa, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan are the top choices.
