As a precautionary measure, the Dubai government now announced that all restaurants, cafes, cafeterias, coffee shops and food service establishments across Dubai will be closed for two weeks. The ban is effective today Monday 23 March, 2020.

Meanwhile, restaurants at hotels and hotel apartments providing services for guests, food delivery services and transportation are exempt from the closure. However, they are required to strictly adhere to safety requirements.

Meanwhile, with the massive issue of the Corona outbreak, Dubai has taken some serious measures. A huge 11 day disinfection campaign has been announced in the city. Having already begun on Friday, this 11 day sterilisation drive, will be cleaning around 95 densely populated streets in Dubai. The campaign will focus on roads, interior lanes, and many suburban streets.

This is a colossal attempt to try and contain the spread of this novel virus, which has already affected 140 people in the UAE. So far, the country has 107 ongoing active cases, 31 recoveries, and 2 unfortunate deaths. The authorities in Dubai, have been constantly reassuring the citizens, of the safety measures in the country. The Ministry of health and prevention have urged all individuals to maintain social distancing in order to curb the spread of the virus.

With this new campaign, all residents are asked to keep off the streets, and to steer away from any disinfection worksites. The sanitisation will be done using large disinfectant spray machines, that will be mounted on top of trucks and cars. A professional team will then use a steam cleaning machine, a fogging machine and a disinfectant sprayer compressed machine to sterilise the area. This entire 11 day campaign will be conducted by the Dubai Municipality.
