COVID-19 Cases Surge Over 4,300 In India

With nearly 300 fresh COVID-19 cases, India’s active infection toll jumped to 4,302 on Wednesday. According to Moneycontrol, with two additional deaths, the COVID-related death total for 2025 has reached seven so far. The ongoing rise in infections is being attributed to four COVID-19 variants: LF.7, XFG, JN.1, and NB.1.8.1.

It is to be noted that this classification is used for strains that exhibit significant genetic changes but whose real-world impact on transmission, severity, or immunity remains uncertain. As per the latest update by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, 3,281 patients were discharged and the overall hospitalisation is low, despite the spike in cases.
