The CoWin portal has introduced a new section called the “International Travel Certificate” to let people travelling abroad download international vaccination certificates. The feature went live on September 30, 2021. The international vaccine certificate will have the traveller’s date of birth, vaccine name, vaccine type, number of doses, dates of doses and vaccine batch numbers. People aiming to travel abroad can download international vaccine certificates that are compliant with the guidelines of the World Health Organisation. RS Sharma, CEO at National Health Authority shared a tweet on the international vaccine certificate, stating, “Building a world-class digital platform for vaccination, we have ensured CoWIN certification is compliant with the WHO-DDCC:VS data dictionary. Now, international travellers can download an international version of their certificate that reflects their date of birth from CoWIN.” However, it must be noted that fully vaccinated Indian travellers still need to undergo a 10-day quarantine in the UK, as per the country’s rules.
