To begin with, Victoria suggests keeping your bag and any other valuables in front of you. Even better, keep it tucked under the jacket. This way, pickpockets won’t be able to steal anything from you.

2. Avoid Crowds

It’s best to avoid crowded places as pickpockets often tend to operate in busy areas. This includes popular tourist spots, the undergrounds, and main markets.

3. Be Cautious While Crossing Roads

In London, traffic moves on the left. So, while you’re crossing the road, make sure you look on the right first while crossing a road.

4. Use Newspaper While Sitting In Public Transport & In Public Places

Victoria also suggests placing newspapers on bus seats and even public places like bus stops and benches to avoid sitting on dirty surfaces.

5. Don’t Enter Red Phone Booths

If you want pictures with the iconic red telephone booths in London, then make sure you get them from the outside. It’s best not to enter these booths as they are quite dirty, and often used by scammers.

She further suggests that one should never participate in street games like ‘find the ball’. According to her, they are scams, and one is guaranteed to lose.

7. Avoid Using Public Charging Ports

For safety reasons, Victoria suggests not using charging ports on public transport in London. Instead, she recommends carrying your own charger to stay safe.
