When it comes to desserts, tiramisu is the one that never fails to please. Soft ladyfingers dipped in coffee, cocoa dusting, and silky mascarpone combine to create a melt-in-your-mouth texture that is pure bliss. Now, picture a contest in which ordinary foodies from around the globe compete to create the best tiramisu. That’s exactly what the Tiramisu World Cup (TWC) is all about.

Tiramisu World Cup: A Championship For Dessert Lovers

The Tiramisu World Cup is open only to non-professionals like home bakers, dessert enthusiasts, coffee lovers, and anyone who believes they can prepare a tiramisu that deserves the crown. Every year, the competition travels through different cities, but the big finale is always held in Treviso, Italy, the birthplace of tiramisu. It’s here that two titles are awarded: one for the best Traditional Tiramisu and another for the most Creative Tiramisu.

There are two exciting categories in the competition: The Original Recipe (Competitors must stick to the six essential ingredients: ladyfingers, mascarpone, eggs, sugar, coffee, and cocoa) and The Creative Recipe (Along with the required base ingredients, competitors can add up to three extra ingredients of their choice, except alcohol).

Around 240 participants with an extraordinary passion for this dessert join the Tiramisu World Cup each year.

Here’s how it works:

  • First, there are Selections, where small groups compete head-to-head.
  • After clearing the first round, the winners move to the Semifinals.
  • Finally, the best reach the Grand Final in Treviso, where the world champions are crowned.

The judges don’t just look for taste. They evaluate cleanliness, presentation, balance, intensity, and overall harmony of flavours.

How You Can Be A Judge

Here comes the sweetest part: Treviso is looking for 100 new judges for the 2025 Tiramisu World Cup! Yes, you read that right. You don’t have to be a chef or a food critic to apply. If you love tiramisu and can be fair and focused, this could be your dream role.

But being a judge is more than just tasting spoonfuls of dessert. Judges also check that the ingredients are properly used, contestants follow the rules, and everything runs smoothly at the competition tables. Each judge works with another judge and a Jury President, tasting and scoring up to 10 tiramisus in a session that lasts about two hours.

To become a judge, you must be at least 18 years old and pass a 15-question online test about the competition rules. This test will only be available on September 13, 2025, from 10 AM to midnight. The faster and more accurately you complete it, the better your chances of being selected. If successful, you’ll get an official email by September 26, 2025.

No, it’s not a paid role, and you’ll need to cover your own travel costs, but the experience? Absolutely priceless. Whether you want to compete, cheer, or judge, it’s an event that promises a whole lot of sweetness.
