Every city in India is planning to bring a metro system in order to ease travel for the locals. Recently, the Bhubaneswar Metro project got approved and there are many more to come. Here are 5 metro news that you need to know.

1. Jaipur Metro To Be Extended!

The South Western and North Eastern Highways of Jaipur will both be accessible by metro by March 2025 and April 2027, respectively, according to the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) department. The Integrated Transport Management System (ITMS), which the transport and UDH Departments jointly execute, includes both Jaipur Metro extension projects.

2. Kolkata Metro To Extend Its Services For Durga Puja

The Kolkata Metro has declared that in order to make travel easier, it will extend its hours of operation during the days of Durga Puja celebrations to midnight. For the convenience of patrons, the Metro will operate 72 services on the East-West Metro (Green Line) on Saptami (October 21), Ashtami (October 22), and Navami (October 23). The metro service will start at 11:55 am and go till midnight. Metros will be accessible along the East-West Corridor every 20 minutes.

3. Bhubaneswar Metro Project Approved

Odisha will soon have a metro rail system thanks to the start of construction next year. On January 1, 2023, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will lay the cornerstone for the Bhubaneswar metro train project, according to state officials. According to officials, the project will shortly begin, with a 48-month completion goal. There will be 20 stations along the elevated metro rail project’s route from Trisulia Square to the airport in Bhubaneswar.

4. Chennai Metro To Run Three-Coach Trains

For the future phase II project, Chennai Metro Rail Limited had initially only planned to run three-coach trains, but it has since made plans to couple two trains with three coaches each and operate six-coach trains if demand is extremely high. The 116 km phase II project will have three corridors and operate both three-coach and six-coach trains, according to officials of Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL). However, they floated bids for the first few years since they only planned to run three-coach trains. The remaining contracts are being processed, and one has already been awarded.

5. Fight In Delhi Metro

Inside the Delhi Metro, Bigg Boss season 1 fame Bobby Darling got into a physical fight with a male patron. On social media, a video of Bobby arguing with another passenger quickly became popular. A member of the CISF is also seen managing the scene and attempting to break up the physical altercation in the footage.
