Have you ever walked into a place and felt like you’ve entered another continent? That’s exactly what happened the moment I entered Mestizo, the newest Latin American gem in Delhi, tucked inside Priya Market, Vasant Vihar. Vibrant yet refined, Mestizo brings a Latin American experience to Delhiites like never before.

From the get-go, the restaurant’s interiors transport you to a world of earthy textures, tropical vibrance, and handcrafted flair. The rustic wood accents combined with playful bursts of colour and an energetic atmosphere can turn a casual date night or simple group hangout into a celebration.

Delhi’s first restaurant and bar dedicated entirely to modern Latin American flavours, Mestizo offers a cultural experience; imagine hopping from Mexico’s bustling streets to Brazil’s festive beaches, all in one evening. Every corner of the 135-seat space, including their private dining room and flexible event spaces, is thoughtfully designed to make every moment feel like a fiesta.

The Flavours That Took Me On A Trip

The food at Mestizo is carefully crafted to represent the hearty and diverse Latin American cuisine. Every dish I tried brought its own wow moments. Here’s everything that wooed me:

Appetisers:

  • Guacamole con Topos

This wasn’t just a dish; it was an event. Made tableside, this classic guacamole came with crisp corn and flour nachos that were nearly impossible to stop munching on. Creamy and fresh, with just the right kick; it’s comfort food but with a flair!

  • Baja Fish Taco

Hands down, one of the best fish tacos I’ve had. The beer-battered white sole nestled in a corn tortilla, finished with dill crema, pico, and crunchy cabbage; this was balanced, flavourful, and incredibly satisfying.

  • Mushroom Taco

Here’s where creativity met earthiness. Grilled mushrooms marinated in orange, garlic, and soy, topped with potato straws, chilli crema, and fresh pea shoots. This veg taco held its ground; rich, textured, and oh-so-savoury.

  • Tomato Tartare

Surprisingly punchy, this dish stood out with its tangy miso-ginger dressing and crisp onion topping. Each bite popped with flavour and texture.

  • Ebi Tempura

Crispy tempura prawns paired with chipotle chilli mayo and pickled cucumber; this one was a crowd-pleaser. Crunchy, juicy, and full of flavour.

  • Asparagus And Cream Cheese Roll

Asparagus tempura rolled with pickled carrots and cream cheese; this was a delicate blend of crunch, creaminess, and zing.

  • Grilled Gambas

Simple ingredients, bold impact. Juicy prawns sizzled with garlic, chilli, lemon, and olive oil—served with grilled bread that soaked up every drop. A must-try for seafood lovers!

Mains:

  • The Classic Burrito Bowl

Despite being nearly full, I couldn’t resist this hearty bowl. The vegetarian version with house cheese, spiced rice and beans, lettuce, and quinoa was a nourishing delight. Featuring fresh flavours with a homey vibe, it hits just right.

Cocktails:

If the food made a statement, the drinks carried the vibe. Mestizo’s bar is unapologetically bold, showcasing Latin spirits like tequila, mezcal, and pisco with playful creativity.

  • Guava Popsicle Picante

A cocktail. In popsicle form. Yes, you read that right. This one looked as good as it tasted. This refreshing guava hit with a spicy edge was creative and outright fun.

  • Cucumber Splash

A clean, crisp cocktail, this one was like hitting reset after indulging in the heavier dishes; so refreshing!

  • L-Lluvia Verde

It was zesty, herbaceous, and great to sip between spicy bites. It balanced the boldness of the food perfectly.

  • Flor de Cielo

This floral, fruity cocktail was light, fresh, and just right to wrap up the meal with finesse.

Dessert:

Dulce de Leche churros:

Cinnamon-dusted churros arrived with dramatic flair, complete with smoke and three decadent dips: dark chocolate, white chocolate, and salted caramel. Pillowy on the inside and crisp on the outside, they were indulgent and utterly satisfying. The kind of dessert you’ll talk about long after it’s gone.
