Riyadh Metro, ever since its opening, has created quite a buzz amongst the residents of the capital city. And now the Riyadh Transport Authority has also announced a student and annual pass. As you might have already gathered, this is for the Riyadh Metro and buses. Through the new passes, it’s going to make travel a lot easier and seamless for people.

Riyadh Transport Authority Announces Semester & Annual Passes

As revealed in a report of The Times of India, it was mentioned that Riyadh commuters and students will have a more cost-effective way of travelling across the city. Yes, according to the Riyadh Transport Authority, this will come into effect on January 1, 2026. Basically, the passengers will be able to purchase these semester tickets, which will specifically be for students. The annual tickets are also available, and these will be for all travellers. Such tickets will allow unlimited trips within the city for a fixed price. Not to mention, it will also offer a practical solution for daily commuters who are looking to save not just time, but even money.

Predictable Costs & Unlimited Travel?

As it happens, this initiative is a part of the authority’s plan to upgrade the public transport system. Not to mention, it aims to improve the efficiency of mobility across the capital. Through predictable costs and unlimited travel, this is going to make commuting smoother and more affordable for residents and students alike. Additionally, with the launch of semester and annual tickets, this shows there is going to be a significant step towards the ongoing efforts of modernising the transit network in Riyadh.

More About Riyadh Metro

Coming to the Riyadh network, there are six main lines and 84 stations, which cover a distance of 176 km. The Riyadh Metro network covers most of the highly populated districts, government facilities, and even key educational and commercial areas. The Riyadh bus has over 2,860 bus stops and stations. It covers a distance of 1,905 km and has a daily capacity of 5,00,000. With currently 53 operational bus routes, there are 672 buses.
