Dubai Roads & Transport Authority revealed that it transported over 2.8 million passengers during the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations. Yes, as revealed on X by the authority, it means that the ridership saw a growth of more than 13% as compared to the previous year, which stood at 2.5 million.

Dubai RTA Transports Over 2.8 Million Passengers

As Dubai RTA reveals that it transported over 2.8 million passengers, the smooth transit was made possible through an integrated and operational plan. This included the management and regulation of traffic movement, along with the implementation of temporary road closures across the emirate for the New Year’s Eve 2026 celebrations. For this purpose, the authority has directly coordinated with the Dubai event security committee, along with other relevant authorities, to make the strategic plan.

This achievement is hardly surprising, as the Dubai municipality also revealed how 2,675 employees were to be present for the celebrations. Not only this, but some public beaches were also designated for families, and 14 parks had extended their operating hours, so that people can celebrate the advent of the New Year without any interruption.

Sharjah Police Handles 6,620 Emergency Calls

Not only this, but Sharjah was also on its toes when it came to handling emergency situations. Yes, as revealed by the Sharjah Police General Headquarters, it operated 6,620 emergency calls. This was received by the 999 call centres and 1,100 non-emeregency call through the 901 call centre. Not only this, but they also responded to enquiries and offered support and guidance around the clock. As mentioned in Gulf Today, Sharjah Police revealed the success of the plan and the achievement of its goals. There is also provision for a safe atmosphere during the celebrations, which happened due to the high-level of preparedness and proactive planning.

All the emirates worked quite hard to ensure that people could have a safe and secure celebration without any hassle.
