Ranchi-Delhi Air Ambulance Crashes In A Deep Forest Near Simaria; 7 Dead

The air ambulance flying from Ranchi to Delhi had established contact with Kolkata air traffic control shortly after take-off. At around 7:34 pm, the crew requested a deviation due to weather conditions.

Ranchi-Delhi Air Ambulance Crashes In A Deep Forest Near Simaria; 7 Dead

All seven people, including the patient, present on board a Ranchi-Delhi air ambulance were killed. The aircraft reportedly crashed near Simaria in Jharkhand’s Chatra district on February 23, 2026. All seven victims have been identified from this unfortunate crash. A detailed investigation will now be carried out to determine the exact cause of the crash. 

Air Ambulance From Ranchi To Delhi Crashes Near Simaria

According to a report by The Times of India, the Beechcraft C90 (VT-AJV), an air ambulance operated by Redbird Airways Pvt Ltd, took off from Ranchi Airport at 7:11 pm on February 26. It then went missing around 7:30 pm before crashing in the Bariatu Panchayat area in Simaria. The air ambulance was found deep inside a forest.

All seven people inside the air ambulance, including the patient, lost their lives. SDPO Shubham Khandelwal shared with Press Trust of India that the bodies of all seven victims have been retrieved. They have been identified as Captain Vivek Vikas Bhagat, Captain Savrajdeep Singh, Sanjay Kumar, Dr Vikas Kumar Gupta, Sachin Kumar Mishra, Archana Devi, and Dhuru Kumar.

Patient Was Being Shifted For Better Treatment

Anant Sinha, CEO of Devkamal Hospital in Ranchi, shared with The Times of India that the air ambulance had been arranged for Sanjay Kumar. He was a resident of Chandwa in the Latehar district. On February 16, he was brought to the hospital with 65% burn injuries and was being treated for them. The family members had decided to take him to Delhi for better treatment. The patient had left the hospital for Delhi around 4:30 pm on Monday.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, the air ambulance had established contact with Kolkata air traffic control shortly after take-off. At around 7:34 pm, the crew requested a deviation due to weather conditions. After that, all communication was lost. The DGCA also took to its official X account and said the district administration’s search and rescue team is at the location, and the AAIB team is also being dispatched. Authorities will now look into the matter and probe further to know the actual reason for the crash.
