We all love mountains. They are peaceful, clean, and offer fresh air, unlike our cities. But what happens when humans reach the highest peaks and treat the mountains with complete disrespect? A video from Mount Everest’s Camp Four has gone viral, showing the world’s highest peak once again strewn with garbage. The visuals highlight how insensitive humans can be.

Mount Everest is the highest mountain on Earth above sea level. Located in the Himalayas, its beauty is beyond imagination. Snow-covered peaks and breathtaking views attract climbers and adventure seekers from across the world. Climbing Everest is a dream for many. But what happens when humans disrespect the mountain and leave garbage behind? Is this justified?
A viral video shared by @ParveenKaswan from the Indian Forest Service on X has sparked outrage. The clip shows Camp Four of Mount Everest covered with garbage. Bottles, snack wrappers, abandoned camps, plastic waste, and soft drink cans can be seen scattered across the snow. The sight is truly disturbing. Many climbers say, ‘The mountains are calling.’ But are they really? The caption of the post read, “Even the highest of peaks are not safe the moment a human reaches there. This is Everest Camp 4. Do you really think mountains are calling?”

Netizens React With Anger
The viral clip has naturally left netizens angry. Many users expressed frustration after seeing the condition of Camp Four. One user wrote, “Mountains are not calling us, they are warning us about what we turn every sacred place into once we arrive,” while another commented, “Mountains are crying.” Another user on X also commented, “The tourists and the climbers don’t deserve Everest.” One comment also read, “Sadly true. Where humans go, damage often follows. Mountains don’t call us to conquer them, they remind us to respect and protect what we touch.”
Several users blamed climbers for the trash. Some called the situation shameful and said nature does not deserve to be treated this way. One user questioned human decency and civic sense. Many people also suggested stricter rules. Some said climbers setting up camps should be made to clean up before leaving or face heavy fines. Honestly, that idea does make sense.
The video showing pristine Mount Everest being trashed with garbage is heartbreaking. Climbers and people setting up camps must not only respect the mountain but also understand how dangerous this waste can be for the fragile ecosystem.
