You must have seen many airlines floating right on top of your news tabloid these days. Amidst all the news of passengers, or better put, drunk passengers causing trouble on the plane, comes very expensive news! At Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, three gold bars were recovered from the toilet of an aircraft. The price of these gold bars together is ₹75 lakh. Here is the full story:

Gold Bars Seized From Plane’s Toilet

Customs officials recovered three gold bars worth ₹75 lakh from an aircraft’s toilet. This incident took place at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on an aircraft that is used for international travel. 

The aircraft at Terminal 3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport was searched after its international travel was completed. Customs officers at IGI Airport developed the search on the basis of input they had received.

On carrying a search of the aircraft, customs officials recovered two items were recovered by customs officials. One rectangular gold bar and two gold bars with unequal shapes were removed and unwrapped. They were fastened using adhesive tape on the upper side panel of the flight’s starboard side toilet.  (As per NDTV)

Further Investigations Are Underway

The three gold bars seized at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport collectively weighed about 1,400 grammes. On calculating the net worth of these three bars, one rectangular and the other two unevenly shaped ones, the total value noted was ₹74,92,954. 

Under Section 110 of the Customs Act, 1962, the gold bars and the packing materials used to affix it on the upper side panel of the toilet have all been seized. The case is under further investigation. (As per NDTV)
