Dark Mofo, an annual art and culture festival in Australia, has announced that it will not be held in 2024. Each year, thousands of people from all over the world attend the festival and celebrate dark art. The organisers state that this move is being undertaken to allow for a period of renewal. It will be back in the year after that. Here is what you need to know about this update.
Dark Mofo Is Cancelled For 2024
This particular festival recently announced that it will not take place in the next year. After a massively successful celebration in 2023, the organisers have decided to take a pause for the next year. According to an article recently published in Time Out Melbourne, the festival is slated to return in 2025.
It is important to note that a couple of events which are a part of the Dark Mofo will still take place. These are The Nude Solstice Swim and The Winter Feast. These are two of the key events of the festival and they are in agreement with the State Government to host them.
The Museum of Old and New Art or MONA, which is the organiser of Dark Mofo, is also opening a new exhibition which will coincide with the two major events. The dates for the two events have not been announced yet but they will be soon.
About This Dark Festival In Australia
Dark Mofo is a dark festival held annually in the Australian region of Hobart in Tasmania. It was launched in the year 2013 and this year’s festival marked a decade of this voluptuous festival. It celebrates the darkness of the winter festival and generally features art exhibitions, music concerts, and light installations.
This year, the festival witnessed record-breaking participation and was a massive success. Despite the success, however, its cancellation for 2024 was announced. The organisers intend to reevaluate and implement a more sustainable way of conducting the festival.
