Days Before Its Launch, 3 Windows Of Vande Bharat Express Durg-Visakhapatnam Broken By Stone Pelters

In an unfortunate incident involving an absolute disregard for public property, five people were arrested for pelting stones on a Vande Bharat Express in Chhattisgarh during its trial run. The train was supposed to be virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 16. When the stones pelting happened, the Vande Bharat train was undergoing a trial run in Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh.

Five Miscreants Arrested For Damaging Vande Bharat Express

As per a report by The Free Press Journal, the men arrested are all residents of Bagbahara. They were identified as Devendra Kumar, Sonwani, Shiv Kumar Baghel, Jeetu Pandey and Arjun Yadav. The men were seen hurling stones at the Vande Bharat Express train during its trial run at Bagbahara railway station. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the multi-layered windows of three coaches, C2-10, C4-1, and C9-78, were damaged.

An official stated to Mint that they were alerted about the incident by four RPF personnel’s train escorting party. Following this stone-pelting incident, the officials sent a security personnel team to the sport. Under the Railways Act, of 1989, a case has been filed against the miscreants. The authorities swiftly arrested the suspects and ensured the safety of the train and its passengers ahead of its virtual inauguration.

Train Windows Broken Days Before Its Launch

This train occurred when the train was reportedly scheduled to run between Chhattisgarh’s Durg and Andhra Pradesh’s Visakhapatnam. The train was en route from Visakhapatnam on Friday morning. PM Modi will officially flag off the train on September 16, Monday.

Apart from the Vande Bharat train, PM Modi will also flag off India’s first Vande Metro train. This will run between Bhuj and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Also, a 20-coach Vande Bharat train will make its way on the Varanasi-Delhi route. This will mark the largest train of its kind in India.

It is unfortunate that just days before the launch of this Vande Bharat Express Durg-Visakhapatnam, three windows have already been broken by miscreants.
