The Delhi government is all set to make travel between Delhi and Bihar a lot more affordable. They are planning to launch direct, government-run interstate buses connecting Delhi to major cities in Bihar before this year’s Chhath Puja festival. Here is everything you need to know about this.
Delhi Plans Budget-Friendly Buses To Bihar
Millions of people travel between Delhi and Bihar for work, education, family visits and the Chhath Puja festival. During this time, travel demand spikes heavily. It not only causes severe overcrowding on trains but also ticket shortages. But Delhi has got some amazing plans for this year. According to The Indian Express, starting this Chhath Puja, the Delhi government is planning to operate interstate bus services to six major cities in Bihar.
Currently, only private buses operate between Delhi and Bihar and tickets for them are quite expensive. These government-run buses will be more pocket-friendly. However, the plan is still in its initial stages. Over 50 deluxe-semi-sleeper buses will be operated this year. They will have both AC and non-AC categories, so travellers can choose whichever suits their budget.

Services May Be Launched Before Chhath Puja
According to The Indian Express, the buses will connect Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Buxar, Purnia, Kishanganj, Madhubani, Champaran, Biharsharif and Bhagalpur in Bihar with Delhi. The services will originate and terminate at the designated bus terminals only. All these buses will also pass through Uttar Pradesh from areas including Noida, Lucknow, Mathura, Azamgarh and other areas before reaching Bihar. They will cover a distance of nearly 1,000 km on average.
Furthermore, the long-route buses will also be air-conditioned and equipped with luggage space to make journeys comfortable for travellers. Though they will be launched before Chhath Puja, the buses are expected to run throughout the year, giving an affordable and economical alternative to private buses.
